I love crunching numbers for kicks, and I thought fellow MakoHaru fans might be interested in the make up of doujinshi output for the fandom. Especially since I sometimes see confusion over a lack of doujinshi in the tag. Keep a few caveats in mind, though.
1. The exact numbers for the data are only good until CQ-Web updates the Free! portion of their site. Free! is a new fandom, so things are constantly selling out and being added. The rough breakdown usually remains about the same, from what I’ve seen, though.
2. CQ-Web is just one of many sites that sell doujinshi. It’s just easier to pluck the numbers from them than, oh say, Toranoana.
3. In the interests of simplicity, I didn’t add books under the “[Character Name] Uke” tag, because it mixes individual couples under that heading as well and confuses the data. Because of this ~70 doujinshi are unaccounted for.
4. Just because MakoHaru has 355 individual doujinshi available for sale doesn’t mean that all 355 of them come from individual circles—same with the rest of the couples. There are also circles that don’t sell their stuff in consignment shops after an event. This means this data only encompasses what is available to be sold on a specific site at this moment, not exact numbers on how many doujinshi have actually been produced for these couples.
Toranoana’s figures — when you can find them — bear out the same trend. The numbers on the site today:
(Bear in mind that there’s some overlap between the stock Toranoana and KBooks keep — and doujinshi with multiple pairings will get counted twice, so e.g. a book with MakoHaru and ReiGisa will be counted in both totals — but I’ve always found that Toranoana has a wider range of stock.)
But yeah, there’s a lot of doujinshi out there.
Plus there’s this:
whereby MakoHaru is the fifth most popular couple site-wide. ;D
